About Us

Humphries is the story of two best friends and their families. The two owners—Zephyr Humphries & Craig Milton go back more than 15 years.

Zephyr Humphries can make wardrobes in his sleep and is a third-generation carpenter reaching back 70 years to his grandfather’s highly detailed wood veneering work on Rolls Royce interiors. Meanwhile, Zephyr’s mother—Liz, has found herself doing technical drawings of wardrobes for the past 12 years. Zephyr’s brother—Caspar, also a pro carpenter has had a lot of input in the company over the years but ended up eloping to Florida.

Craig Milton’s experience in management and systems, and sheer ability to keep the show on the road have done exactly that. You may meet Laurence Milton at your doorstep as he’s the lead designer and the two other Milton brothers—Glenn & Scott cover finances and marketing.

This company is born out of Craig & Zephyr’s desire to deliver top-notch carpentry products in a well-organised way that automatically expands as a result of repeat business and recommendations.

As you go through the ranks you’ll notice the common denominator amongst the staff. There isn’t one of them that doesn’t actually CARE about their product and getting it right for the client.

Whichever lead carpenter arrives at your house, you’ll get the same confidence that you’d hope for. Mark Booker & Jim Quere have been with the company from the beginning—Mark is English and a total perfectionist while Jim is French and his artistic background is instantly obvious. You’ll also notice similarities with the other lead carpenters.

Denisa is our queen of drawings. Despite being a computer-based designer, she has also apprenticed on-site with the guys to really learn this work inside out. You’ll notice that she’s very thorough with her CAD technical drawings and 3D renderings but might not realise that she can pick up a screw gun and put one of these together herself.

We were previously based only in Finsbury Park in North London, but now our primary base is in Kidbrooke—near Greenwich. However, we cover all of London.

We’re quite specific in our work in that we only do wardrobes, cupboards and shelves and a few other similar items. Due to our focus on cabinetry, we are especially good at it. There are large areas of the general field of carpentry that aren’t on our “menu”, including internal doors, windows, flooring, partition walling and others. We do all the workshop work we can before arriving but don’t be misled, due to the nature of “fitted” work, there is still a lot of cutting that just has to be done on-site. We’re good with protecting your space with dust sheets and fully cleaning up afterwards.

We brought the hand-painting in-house to keep up the standards and to deliver a smoother product as the hand painters need to paint on-site once the carpenters have finished.

We put a lot of emphasis on client communication and try to keep you very updated during the process. Sometimes start dates need to be adjusted and unexpected issues can arise—we do our best to reduce inconvenience by keeping you fully in the loop.

We’re big on quality and won’t try to brush off a job as done before it really is. Ultimately the key measure on this is whether or not you the client are satisfied.
